Climate anxiety
Being engaged in campaigns aimed at combatting climate change from a very young age has helped me understand how to support children who suffer from climate anxiety.
I empower children to overcome climate anxiety by first making them aware of the facts and figures around the problem. I explain to them the what their climate actions can be and also the power of their influence on friends, family, school and the wider world to stop climate change. Most importantly, I ask them to be realistic in their expectations of what their individual actions can achieve as far as combatting climate change is concerned, as well.
Children play a very important role in influencing the adults around them because these adults run the governments and businesses who can bring the “systemic changes” needed to combat climate change. So, it is absolutely important children do not get anxious but instead take realistic climate action to combat climate change.
I use my public standing to help children as young as 4 to overcome climate anxiety, online, at school, the local community and through my extended network in the UK and aboard.
